One recent student who had taken a three year degree course in photography commented that she had learnt more about lighting in one seminar with us than the whole of her degree course. We were commissioned to write the first module for wedding and portrait photography for the NVQ Higher Diploma in Photography. In fact, of all the courses in wedding and portrait photography few, if any, have a tutor with the teaching qualifications that we have.

Often a brilliant photographer, with great creative talents, is quite unable to pass on the skills that he or she has.

The most common mistake is to try to run before you can walk. This usually ends in disaster. The basics have to be instilled first for someone to eventually be able to fulfill their potential.

It is this learning process which is so fascinating and challenging.
