The new Wedding Course and the new Portrait photography course started on July 20th at Stansted.

On the first day of the six month course which involves one Sunday seminar for 5 months, and finishing with a Saturday and a Sunday in December, a general introduction is given explaining the Barrett and Coe “method”.

It is not possible to learn photography skills from a book. It is a practical subject. Learning photography can be compared to the way we learn a sport.

For example to begin tennis, skiing or golf, we go to a professional teacher for a session. Then we go away practice on are own, and we then go back to the pro who assesses our level and teaches us a bit more. This is why a one or two day course can do little to improve your photography.

It is only by constant practice and referring back to a professional at regular intervals that we improve.

Photography is the same. The only way to learn to be as good as we can be at image taking is to be shown how to do it, then practice it, then go back to the tutor for a critique.

Barrett and Coe courses have an unqualified record of success. Earlier this year 9 past students all achieved the Master Photographers Association qualification on the same day following their course.
