Last Sunday our latest portrait photography course, and wedding photography course students learnt how their images are judged for qualifications and awards from prestigious, Professional organisations like the Master Photographers Association.

Images are assessed by qualified judges in a structured way. They consider each image under five different headings:

Composition
Lighting
Expression
Posing
Space

A score is given for each of the above and then totalled to give an overall score. Our short video above shows Grahame Jackson assessing an image and explaining to students what to look for.

A couple of hours is spent scoring images and the students scoring nearest to our tutors win prizes as follows:

First £100 Loxley Colour vouchers
Second £60 Loxley Colour vouchers
Third £40 Loxley Colour vouchers

Loxley’s are one of the best colour labs, if not the very best, in the UK.

Our winners were:
First – George Dzienis
Second – Judith Wood
Third – Ralph Hardwick
