Barrett &
Coe Photograp
hy Franchise Opportunit
A Barrett & Coe Photography
Franchise is different from most other franchise opportunities.
We have carefully introduced a structured system that
allows anyone interested in our franchise to attend
one single day or a photography
training course. This will enable you to formulate
an opinion as to whether this is the right business
opportunity for you.
Feedback
from attendees is that these introductory days are very
enjoyable, and furthermore will give you an exciting
and valuable new skill, whether or not you decide to
become a Barrett & Coe franchisee. You will
have the opportunity to meet, and deal with, everyone
in the organisation including many of the existing franchisees.
There is no obligation, no pressure and no large capital
or time investment until you are absolutely certain
that the Barrett & Coe franchise is suitable for
you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
•I haven't even taken
the family holiday photos, can you really train me?
We have trained more than 400 people with
no experience, during the last four years to take stunning
and exciting images. Both the British Institute of Professional
Photographers and Master Photographers Association recommend
Barrett & Coe to anyone wishing to learn portrait
or wedding photography.
Brian Barrett and Andrew Coe have perfected a unique
and highly effective training method, which is entirely
based on practical teaching rather than technical theory.
•I haven't got any equipment?
We prefer you not to have any when you start a course.
We will cover all the options early in the course and
so that when you purchase you can be sure it is the
right equipment for you and what you want to achieve
with it.
•I am completely un technical and
know nothing about digital or computers!
This doesn't matter at all. The Barrett & Coe breaks
everything down into very simple, easy to use systems.
•Do I need to be artistic and/or creative?
No! If you are, great, but we can teach you how to become
a highly successful and respected photographer regardless
of the artistic talent.
•What is the difference between Course
1 and Course 2?
The content is the same. The Course 2 takes place on
a Friday and Saturday once a month with one further
single day over a four-month period. The Course 1 is
one Sunday a month for 6 months.
•Do I get a qualification?
Yes! You will get a Grade 1,2 or 3 Norwich School of
Photography Diploma. Approximately 15% of our students
attain a Grade 1. The majority attain a Grade 2, which
qualifies them to be a Barrett & Coe Franchise if
they wish.
•I definitely want a Barrett &
Coe Franchise; can I sign up prior to the course?
No! We want to be sure that you are comfortable
with the franchise before you make a commitment. We
also want to be sure you attain our standards.
•What if I reach the standard and
the postal code area I want is gone?
You may pay a £1000 deposit to reserve your
area! This is refundable if we do not offer you a franchise.
•What if I decide not to take a franchise
at the end of the course?
There is no obligation to take a franchise. You
will have learnt an enjoyable skill from which you will
be able to earn money for the rest of your life.
•What is the difference between the Portrait
course and the Social course?
In order to take a good wedding photograph it is
necessary to be an accomplished portrait photographer,
but you will not have covered the specialist portrait
products i.e. make-over, high-key (white backgrounds),
pets, babies etc. Neither will you have covered the
complex area of portrait marketing and selling. If you
do the portrait course you will not be able to do a
wedding because you will not know the sequence and method.
THE IMAGES PRODUCED BY STUDENTS WHO HAVE TRAINED
TO DO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY WITH US AND ACHIEVE A GRADE
1 OR 2, LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN DOING WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
FOR 10 YEARS.
•How much is the franchise going to cost
me?
£7500.00 plus VAT less any training costs i.e.
if you have completed both the social and portrait course
you can deduct the cost of both courses.
Any student wishing to reserve a franchise postcode area may do so with a deposit of £1000.00 plus VAT at any time during the course. This is also included in the franchise fee.
Franchise Cost - £7500.00 plus VAT
Less Course Costs - £3900.00 plus VAT
Less franchise deposit - £1000.00 plus VAT
TOTAL COST OF FRANCHISE - £2600.00 plus
VAT
If you decide to take a franchise after the course has finished, the cost will be £10,000.00 plus VAT (less course fees).
•How much will I make?
An average wedding will produce a gross profit of approximately
£1000 an average portrait approximately £200.
So thirty weddings and 100 portraits (which you should
achieve by your second or third year) will give you
a gross profit of £50,000 from which you will
have to pay your overheads. These will be low if you
are working from home. These will include car, telephone,
insurance, marketing costs etc. You would not have to
work full time to achieve the following:
30 Wedding Sales - £49,500
50 Portrait Sales - £15,000
Other Sales - £5000
Total Sales - £69,500
Material Costs - £31,500
GROSS PROFIT - £38,000
Overheads - £12,000
NET PROFIT - £26,000
We strongly advise that you have an alternative income
for at least one, possibly two years whilst you build
up sales, confidence and your reputation. It is possible
to take 15 to 30 weddings a year on a part time basis.
It is not as easy to do a large number of portraits
on a part time basis.
These projections should not be considered as guarantees
that you will achieve the same results from your own
area. Your ultimate success will depend upon your location
and your own hard work.
