Ex Barrett & Coe student achieves BIPP & SWPP qualifications and wins National Awards
Dennis Harris of Cambridge has come a long way since he graduated from the Norwich School of Photography in February 2006.
As well as achieving his Licentiate membership of both the British Institute of professional photographers (BIPP) and the society of Wedding and portrait photographers (SWPP) Dennis was also the winner in three different photography categories in the 2006 SWPP & BPPA Annual photography Competition.
Dennis was the winner of the Pictorial Photographer of the Year, the Scientific Photographer of the Year and the Overall Winner and 2006 photographer of the year.
Founder of the Norwich School of Photography and the Barrett & Coe photographers network Andrew Coe told us, “This is great and well deserved news for Dennis. From his early days with us he demonstrated a love of photography, the ability to take stunning images and a real understanding of people.”
The praise was not all one way as Dennis recently wrote to Andrew Coe and Brian Barrett offering his thanks for their help with his photography career.
"I felt I should write to thank you for the excellence of the tuition received during the recent Portrait course I attended.
I have left the course with the confidence to now go out and make a business from photography. Something I would not have thought possible six months ago.
You personally (Brian Barrett) were an inspiration. I can only hope that some of the love you have for your art has rubbed off. The techniques you have given us are not enough on their own; it's the passion that you have that we now need to develop to take us that next, higher level.
Once again, many thanks. You've given me something I will always treasure."
With professional photography under some threat from the increase in digital camera ownership its fantastic to see that with the proper training and personal determination its possible to clearly demonstrate the key differences and benefits to customers, both consumer and commercial, from using a highly skilled and qualified professional.
