Although the Olympus is a lead contender and has a headline zoom of 24x, there’s not a lot else to back it up especially when you consider it’s higher price when compared to more capable models from other manufacturers. Picture quality is adequate but can’t compete with the recommendation – the 20x zoom Panasonic TZ20.

This has the Leica lens and has amazing image quality across the zoom range (they all start to fail on full zoom) Add to that image stabilisation, a brilliant touch screen interface and menu system, FULL HD video recording with zoom, auto focus tracking and one of the best ‘auto intelligent’ point and shoot systems out there.

For sports mode, it not only has great auto focus with tracking but also a great burst mode so one can take multi shots to ensure one gets the action shot.

The only thing one might fail it for us the omition of shooting RAW.
