Franchise case study
Andy Austin, Barrett & Coe, Norwich
Much of my working life was in Financial Services. My primary role was to
advise financial advisors as to why our products and services were the right
choice for them. It was very competitive and target driven. It taught me
professionalism, sales techniques and above all the need to stand out from
the crowd when often it was only you that made the difference.
As a new parent I wanted a change of direction and almost by coincidence
a colleague had just been to a Barrett & Coe wedding and told me what a great job they had done and
that they had a training academy. A quick web search and a visit to a very informative one-day
seminar convinced me this was the way forward for me. I signed up for the Social photography
course that started in April 2005.
I loved the practical elements of the course, did my best with the homework but passed. Before I had
gone on the course I had a strong idea that I was also going to join the network and everything I saw
and learned convinced me to do so.
My course finished in June and by October I had completed my first Barrett & Coe inspired wedding.
It felt great! My business has grown steadily since then with 32 weddings in my first full year, 48 in 2007
and continued growth in the value of the weddings in 2008/09.
